Health & Safety Officer Certification Programs * Certification in Just One Weekend * Free to FDM Customers (a small charge to non-customers) A few years ago we conducted a Safety Survey of our customers and compared our overall claims costs with the results of the survey. What we learned was that the single greatest factor in reducing firefighter injuries seems to be the existence of an effective Safety Officer. So we decided to encourage the certification of more Safety Officers. To date, we have sponsored programs in the State of New York that have certified over 400 Health and Safety Officers. With these programs, in just one weekend, your people can earn both NYS Fire Training and National Fire Academy Certificates. We hold these excellent seminars several times a year. FIREFIGHTER INJURY REDUCTION STUDY For our clients who are experiencing higher than average losses, Fire Districts Mutual will conduct, through our contractor LTS Consultants, an intensive Firefighter Injury Reduction Study. In this study the representative reviews Fire Ground Injuries, Training Injuries, Non-Fire Emergency Injuries, Response and Return Injuries and “other” injuries as well as injury frequency. Review of Department Operations, including Standard Operating Guideline’s, Record Keeping, Firefighter Physicals, Safety Officers, Safety committee, Blood Borne Pathogens, Training, Vehicles, Incident Operations and Personal Protective Equipment are also completed. Through this intensive analysis the representative develops a list of recommendations intended to assist you in improving firefighter safety and reduce the severity and frequency of losses. |
